General Summary
The M&R Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the vehicle and equipment maintenance within the shop, ensuring operations meet manufacturer and company standards and safety requirements. The role includes managing maintenance schedules, leading the shop’s mechanics, and maintaining effective communication with customers and leadership. The Manager is also responsible for the administrative support tasks, assisting customers, and ensuring that repair documentation and records are accurately maintained.

The role includes managing maintenance schedules, leading the shop’s mechanics, and maintaining effective communication with customers and leadership. The Manager is also responsible for the administrative support tasks, assisting customers, and ensuring that repair documentation and records are accurately maintained.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct the mechanic personnel, equipment installation, and all repair work including preventative maintenance.
- Purchase and manage supplies and repair parts.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the shop and customers, providing updates on repair status and addressing concerns.
- Manage the front desk, scheduling services, and resolving customers complaints courteously and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, customer interactions, inventory, and compliance with safety guidelines
- Prepare, file and ensure documentation aligns with company policies and procedures
- Ensure all repairs are completed correctly, in a timely and efficient manner
- Keep M&R Shop neat, organized and safe at all times
- Complete special projects as required
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
- Five plus years’ experience in trucking/transportation, or equipment/vehicle services industry
- Familiarity with all aspects of vehicle operation and an understanding of the functions of the major components and systems
- Demonstrated ability to use service and maintenance tools and equipment
- Two to four years managerial experience
- Strong verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Ability to perform intermediate level computer tasks with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Outlook and Excel
- Prior experience with equipment maintenance and repairs including hydraulics or electrical systems in a fast-paced environment
- Associate's degree with additional coursework in maintenance engineering, mechanical engineering or industrial engineering
- Experience using ERP software, e.g. NetSuite
